Kato Zakros is a small fishing village located 47 km southeast of Sitia and 25 km from Palekastro. It has a lovely beach with trees, small pebbles and crystal clear waters. On the beach there are umbrellas and sun loungers as well as traditional taverns and rooms to let. If you are in the area, you should also visit Zakros Gorge. Hiking through the gorge is easy and you will need approximately 1.5 hours to cross it. In the area you can also see the Minoan Palace of Zakros, Pelekita Cave and the source of Zakros with the beautiful plane trees and the running water.
