Vegoritida Lake is the second biggest lake in Greece after Big Prespa. It is located in Western Macedonia and belongs to two prefectures, the prefecture of Florina and the prefecture of Pella. It is surrounded by Verno, Voras, and Vermio Mountains and shelters more than 80 species of birds on its shores. Near Vegoritida Lake you will also find the lakes of Petres, Zazari and Cheimarritida which are connected. Geologically speaking, the lakes are remnants of an older lake (Eordaia Lake), which occupied an area of ​​1000 sq. km. and was 250 m. deep.
