This is one of the most beautiful villages of the island as it maintains its traditional architecture. It has many old neighborhoods: Atsidofolia, Seladi, Mylos or Plaka, Pano Gitonia, Vorina and Skali. On warm summer nights the central narrow alley, which is adjacent to the courtyard of Agii Anargiroi church, comes alive. Everyone who happens to be in the area will go to the traditional café of Mangas for ‘rakomela’ (raki with honey) and snacks. Of particular interest are the typical chimneys of the houses covered with broken ‘kioupia’ (broken jars) and the ‘pezoules’ (terraces) which go all around the surrounding slopes. Also, you can see the 20 threshing floors that the locals still produce their fava beans. In the alleys, as in other villages of Amorgos, you will see flowers, suns and geometric designs drawn on walls in white color.
