This imposing building was constructed by Sotirios Anargyros, great benefactor of Spetses, in 1913-1914. The hotel helped the development of tourism and turned the island into a resort of the upper social class. Kings, princes, prime ministers and prominent figures from around the world, visited Spetses every summer and stayed at this exquisite hotel. In 1928 Spetses became the anchorage area for the English fleet, so the officers of the English navy were now added in the hotel's clientele. The hotel has been renovated and its elegance is still evident today.
