This is the largest sea cave in the world and it is located on the south coast of Meganisi Island. It is 12 nautical miles from the town of Lefkada and there are boats at Nidri village that can take you there (duration of the journey: 45 minutes). They say that the cave was the base of “Papanikolis” submarine during the Second World War and this is why it is also called Papanikolis Cave.

Because of its size it still offers shelter to boats and sailing boats in bad weather. It is 120m long and 60m wide (or 23m wide at its narrowest part). The entrance is very big, the roof is 30m high and the total area the cave occupies is 3.800 sq. m. The interior of the cave is absolutely amazing because of the impressive stalactites and the sparkling waters.
