The Folklore Museum of Xanthi was founded in 1975 and is housed in Kougioumtzoglou Mansion in the old city.  The collection of the museum includes exhibits from the period of financial peak of the urban life of Xanthi ("Xanthi 1860-1940 glory days" with references to the bourgeoisie and the tobacco merchants) but also exhibits from the daily life of the residents of the countryside, local costumes and items, a variety of jewels, agricultural tools as well as several paintings.
